 It seems that the idea of kids abusing drugs and alcohol in college is nothing new.  Away from family for the first time, a new group of friends to impress, drinking and drugs can be a social bridge, an event through which social networks can be established, a tool to create a community in an otherwise alien and alone environment.

 

Teens Commonly Abuse Prescription Drugs

 More than one in five teenagers who has a doctor's prescription for a painkiller or other controlled drug takes more than the recommended dosage.  In many cases, teens deliberately take more of their prescription drugs in order to get high.  This information comes from a new Web-based survey conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
