T.E.A.C.H. Program

We are proud that the T.E.A.C.H. program has a 80% class completion rate. The T.E.A.C.H. program is particularly favored by the educators we work with who enjoy the rewarding experience of seeing the progression of recovery and educational growth of our  students.  

 2011 TEACH Program Includes: 

• College Tuition for classes

• Registration

• Books

• School supplies (backpacks, notebooks, folders, etc.)

• Weekly one on one with a counselor

• Communication with professor and school

• Transportation to and from school and to all activities

• Computer and Internet Lab access

• Monitored Study Groups offered three times per week:

 - If client is taking 2 classes, they are required to attend two study sessions per week

 - If client is taking 1 class, then they are required to attend one study session per week

• Extended Study Groups offered 4 days a week for clients needing extra time or who have afternoon classes

•Weekly TEACH Process Groups that cover the following topics:

- Coping with stress

- Time management skills

- Using the 12 steps in school

- Coping with social environment 

• Monthly Process Group with all TEACH clients

• “Visiting Speaker Series” once a month-person in recovery speaks on going through college/high school while in recovery

• Student of the Month-once a month students recognize one student that has shown positive growth both academically and in their treatment program

• TEACH Activity-once a month TEACH clients go on an activity that is for TEACH clients only

• Third party professional tutoring available

• Weekend study sessions available during exam periods

• Academic counseling to assist with transferring, record retrieval, registration, applications, etc.

• Comprehensive academic aftercare planning

• Campus tours at all client attended institutions 

• Distance Education opportunities through accredited universities for high school diploma and college degrees

• Attend regular extended care groups

 - Gender Specific Groups

 - Relapse Prevention

 - Process Workshops

 - Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous Study Groups

• Morning and evening 12 Step meetings

• Service work

• 12 Step Workshops

• Therapeutic activities including hiking, golfing, tennis, basketball, biking, and paddle boarding, sailing, and kayaking

• Other activities including paint balling, movies, Disneyland, Snowboarding, Knotts Berry Farm, Horseback riding, Indoor skydiving 

• Random UA testing 3 times per week and random testing upon cause

• TEACH Graduation/Celebration at the end of each semester
